The Foundry, Philly, PA: Feb 13, 2025

British/ Australian rock band Kelsy Karter & the Heroines tore through Philadelphia on February 13th at The Foundry at the Fillmore. The night from start to finish was filled with energy, sweat, and pure rock & roll music. Karter’s killer vocals and edgy image is an unmatched combination. Wearing assess pants, covered in tattoos, and dripping with chains and jewelry, Kelsy is every rock music lovers dream.

The bands set featured a large portion of songs off their new album “Love Made Me Do It,” with Karter stripping down fan favorite “Wild” in an acoustic moment of the show. Kelsy opened up about writing the song about her boyfriend (who just happens to be the guitarist for The Struts) and the feeling of being undeserving of him. Hearing such a badass, seemingly confident women speaking about such raw emotions gave Karter an extremely relatable and almost normal quality, making the already lovable front women even more endearing if that was at all possible.

While some technical difficulties with the sound were present throughout the headliners set, the bands professionalism and go with the flow attitude made them all the more rock and roll. Karter kept her composure through it all, acknowledging it without giving any indication of frustration or annoyance. She truly just seemed so grateful to be doing what she loves. At one point she spoke to the audience sharing that many people remark that they’re surprised the band isn’t bigger than they are, but reassured the crowd “We have fucking made it. We are living our dream.”

Kelsy Karter & the Heroines are messy and raw in all the best ways. The bands banter throughout the night made you feel like you were hanging out with friends in your basement, while the talent and performances they were giving felt like you were watching rock legends, a remarkable mix that isn’t easy to achieve. They somehow seamlessly blend their hard badass image and sound with a vulnerable softness. Anyone who sees this remarkable band will no doubt be assured that the future of rock and roll is safe in the hands of Kelsy Karter & the Heroines.
